CHANEL LA TORRE is currently playing a supporting role as Sheena Halili’s best friend in the hit GMA show, “Binoy Henyo”. Remember her name as she’s now in the cast of no less than 8 new movies. She’s in two Cinemalaya entries: “Babagwa” and “The Diplomat Hotel”. She has also finished shooting two Sineng Pambansa entries, “Lihis” by Joel Lamangan and “Lauriana” by Mel Chionglo. She’s also in the CineFilipino FIlmfest entry “The Guerilla is A Poet” by Kiri Dalena. She has finished two international movies, “Wanchai Baby” shot in Hongkong where she plays a Pinay DH who becomes a masseuse and “The World is Bigger Than Love” by Joel Ruiz. She’s about to start shooting the Cinema One Filmfest entry, “Woman in the Ruins”, with Alessandra de Rossi, Elizabeth Oropesa and Peque Gallaga, directed by Keith Sicat. In September, she’ll appear as the FHM Centerfold.
The 24-year old actress was taking up medicine at UST when their family’s finances ran out. “Nasa medicine proper na ako, e iniwan kami ng father ko, so wala na kong pan-tuition,” she says. “I tried other options and may nag-recommend sa’kin to take the acting workshop sa GMA-7. Naging manager ko si Ferdie Lapuz at nakuha ko sa indie film na ‘Latak’ directed by Jowee Morel in 2010. Then Direk Dante Mendoza got me to appear in ‘Captive’. Then I did supporting roles in GMA dramas like ‘Legacy’, ‘Magpakailanman’ and ‘Wagas’. Tapos, this year, ang daming pelikulang dumating. Nagulat din ako.”
She has no qualms about doing full frontal nudity. She does this in her several love scenes with Alex Medina, who plays her boyfriend in “Babagwa”. They both appear in their birthday suits complete with pumping motions.
“Mahirap, kasi si Alex, ayaw nagpa-plaster. Buti na lang, nag-sensuality workshop muna kami before shooting para maging mas comfortable ako sa kanya. Tapos, our lines are in Kapampangan kasi it’s set in Angeles. Binago rin yung boses ko para magmukha akong childish. Mas madali yung role ko in ‘Diplomat Hotel’. Ako yung multo. Pasulpot-sulpot pero may big flashback kung bakit ako naging multo. In ‘Lihis’, aktibistang estudyante ako ni Isabelle Daza na siyang magiging dahilan para matuklasan niya ang past ng father niyang si Joem Bascon as an NPA. In ‘The World is Bigger than Love’, kami ni Joem ang magkapareha and we have a hot love scene. In ‘Lauriana’, Bangs plays the title role of the battered wife in the 50s at ako yung counterpart niya in the 70s. I’m paired with Victor Basa.
