RYAN AGONCILLO was asked at the presscon of “Talentadong Pinoy” how he feels now that the program is having its final telecast with the championship night to be held on Sunday, August 18, at the Cuneta Astrodome. “Honestly, it sucks,” he says. “I don’t agree with management’s decision but, it’s beyond my pay grade to decide what happens to the program. I’m being paid to give you a hell of a show on Sunday and that’s what I’m concentrating on. The show ran for five years and it was good while it lasted.”
So is he really moving to GMA-7 because of this? “I’ve not entertained any offers. I just want to focus on the grand finals muna. Actually, free lancer na ako since my contract with TV5 expired last January pa.”
TV5 Exec Perci Intalan says that it doesn’t mean “Talentadong Pinoy” will be gone forever. “Kasi we have shows that rest for a while tapos, binabalik din namin uli, like ‘Wow Mali’, ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ and ‘Pinoy Explorer’ will all be coming back on air this September, still with the same hosts, sina Joey de Leon, Vic Sotto and Aga Muhlach. So puede ring mabalik ang ‘Talentadong Pinoy’ after magpahinga muna.”
As for Ryan, he’s busy with a new movie, “Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap?”, an entry in the FDCP Sineng Pambansa filmfest that will be shown this September. Written and directed by Joey Reyes, he plays the youngest child in their family reared by their loyal yaya, played by Rustica Carpio. Their entire family is moving abroad and now that Rustica is old and infirm, she no longer has a family she can go home to after devoting all her life to Ryan and his siblings, Jackielou Blanco and Bobby Andrews.
“It’s a very touching movie,” he says. “My last movie, ‘My House Husband’ is a comedy. This time, magdadrama naman ako.”
He admits he's in the same boat as his own wife, Judy Ann Santos, who is having her own share of woes with ABS-CBN now that her show, “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” suddenly ends. But Ryan would rather not talk about it. “Panoorin nyo na lang muna siya sa ‘Talentadong Pinoy’ finals this Sunday where she’ll be one of the talent scouts at meron din kaming gagawing special number.”
