THE FINAL EPISODE of “Talentadong Pinoy” was staged last Sunday night successfuly with its last championship night. The winner is the pint-sized balikbayan from New York who’s now studying at Wesleyan University in Cabanatuan and an expert in Chinese yoyos, Spyro Marco. The judges favored his tricks of throwing the yoyos in the air then always catching them just before they fall. He won P1 million cash plus a house and lot. He won over Laserman, Larvae, Nocturnal Dance Group and three female singers: Sor Apao, Rina Forbes and Hainna Udin. He also won a special Texters’ Choice award that gave him additional P20,000 cash.
The affair was hosted by Ryan Agoncillo who did a special dance number with the Manouevres and his daughter, Yohan. The list of talent scouts or judges is a list of who’s who among TV talents: Sharon Cuneta, Derek Ramsay, Joey de Leon, director Joey Reyes, Ryan’s wife Judy Ann Santos, John Lapus and Edu Manzano. Their votes are equal to 50 percent and the other 50 percent is from text votes. Ogie Alcasid gave a song number and Lucy Torres-Gomez did a dance number.
So what happens now to Ryan Agoncillo after the show he hosted for five years has been axed? We heard he’s being offered a daily primetime game show, but he says he’ll study it first as he’s also getting offers from other networks. “I want shows that will make me come out of my comfort zone and venture into something new,” he says.
Meantime, intrigue continues to hound Ryan. He’s now being linked to “Eat Bulaga” co-host Julia Clarete. “Ano ba yan? Lahat na lang sa ‘Eat Bulaga’, nili-link sa akin. Una si Daiana Menezes, then si Isabelle Daza, now si Julia naman. Baka sa susunod, si Ryzza Mae Dizon na. Tigilan na yan at malayo sa katotohanan. My wife knows I’m faithful to her.”
Going back to the winner of "Talentadong Pinoy", we don't really know why the judges are so fond of novelty acts that have no staying power in showbiz. Look at the previous winners: Yoyo Trickster (they're obviously fond of yoyos), Sandman, Astroboy with Hulahoop. May sumikat ba sa kanila? Spyro Marco might have dazzled the viewers with his yoyo tricks, but we don't think his star will really soar in the local showbiz firmament.
