Will Megan Young Be The First Filipina To Win The Miss World Title?

MEGAN YOUNG won as 2013 Miss World Philippines, as predicted by a lot of writers who’ve been urging her since she joined showbiz as a Starstruck contestant to join a beauty pageant. The coronation night was held at Solaire Resort Casino last Sunday night. Megan is 23 and also won the special awards for Best in Fashion Runway, Miss Sports Fila, Miss Laguna World, Miss Olay, Miss Revlon and Miss Bench Body. She’ll represent our country at the Miss World Pageant to be held on September 28 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The runners up are Janicel Lubina (1st runner up, also best in swimwear, Miss Slimmer’s World and Miss Photogenic), Zahra Saldua (2nd, also Miss Friendship), Maria Paula Bianca Paz (3rd, also Miss Redox Fat) and Omarie Osuna (4th). Samantha Mae Bernardo is best in talent. The affair was hosted by Carla Abellana, Victor Basa and GF Divine Lee, 2011 Miss World 1st runnerup Gwen Ruais and KC Montero who’s ex-wife, Geneva Cruz, has just announced on Twitter and Facebook that she’s getting married again in the U.S. to a non-showbiz guy named Les Paulsen. This will be Geneva’s third married after Paco Arespacochaga (with whom she has a teenage son, Heaven) and KC.

Going back to Megan, it’ll be noted that we have yet to win the Miss World crown. Gwen Ruais and Evangeline Pascual are both 1st runners up. Will Megan be the lucky first Filipina to bring home the title? Megan got full support from her family at the coronation night, especially from younger sister Lauren who now stars in the hit GMA soap, “Mundo Mo’y Akin”.

Megan is being linked to Kapuso actor Mikael Daez but they both deny it. But Mikael was there when Megan’s family went to Eclipse, the entertainment lounge at Solaire, after Megan has won the crown. It was Mikael who introduced Megan to Jonas Gaffud, the Mercator Agency boss who trains winning beauty queens like Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup and Arielle Arida. Jonas trained Megan on how to move and walk like a beauty queen. Ironically, Mikael himself has now dumped Jonas as his manager.

He denied this when asked about it at the presscon of “With a Smile”. But now, he can no longer deny it as Jonas himself is spreading the news that Mikael asked to be released from his contract with Mercator which is expiring in 2015 yet, simply because they allegedly “don’t click.” Someone told us Jonas just let him go “dahil nakukulitan na siya kay Mikael na nanghihinayang na sa komisyong binibigay sa kanya.”
