MARK HERRAS has not been assigned a new soap since he did “Unforgettable”, but he gets to do a really meaty role in the pilot episode of “Bingit”, GMA-7’s new docu-drama about near death situations that starts airing today after “Startalk”. He gets to play June Abrozado, the lone survivor in the plane crash off Masbate where Sec. Jesse Robredo perished on August 12 of last year.
Mark plays June in the re-enactment of what happened before and during the crash. June himself narrated the story and he couldn’t help but shed tears as he recounted the tragic events that happened. Somehow, you could see he has some guilt feelings that he wasn’t able to help the late secretary at all, even if the fact-finding group that investigated what happened said he’s not to blame. He’s been so traumatized by the experience that he hasn’t found the nerve to ride in an airplane again since then.
June was not at all paid for his participation in the show. He’s just glad to recount factually what happened on that fateful day. The show will premiere in time with the celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Penafrancia in Naga today. Both Robredo and June are devotees of the Blessed Virgin.
The pilot episode of “Bingit” is helmed by Rico Gutierrez using a High Definition camera to make the photography very clear. The second episode is directed Lem Llorca and it will be about the Roro ferry boat that sank off Masbate some months ago where a baby died but was miraculously revived.
