AT THE ‘AKIN Pa Rin ang Bukas’ presscon, some writers were pressuring Lovi Poe and Rocco Nacino to admit that they are on but the two insisted they’re really just the best of friends. We believe them. Knowing how driven both they are when it comes to their respective careers, we think they’re telling the truth when they say they really have no time for love at this point. We’re more inclined to believe that Lovi did have a relationship with Jake Cuenca after they did “My Neighbor’s Wife”, but something happened unsavoury between them that stalled it so it didn’t prosper.
Rocco says both he and Lovi are happy to be paired for the third time in “Akin Pa Rin ang Bukas” that starts airing on Monday to replace “Mundo Mo’y Akin” that will have its finale tonight.
“First time namin was in ‘Love Bug’ then in ‘Yesterday’s Bride’,” he says. “Hindi naman namin ikinakaila na we enjoy working with each other. Mas lumalim na ang friendship namin at masaya kami sa set. Pero mahirap isabay ang lovelife kasi pareho kaming super busy. Magkasama rin kami sa ‘Titser’ ng GMA News TV and we’re both doing movies pa. I just finished shooting ‘Burgos’ and I’m now doing the filmfest entry on the life of San Pedro Calungsod. Mahirap yung role kasi I speak in Visayan dahil taga-Cebu siya, and also in Spanish kasi Spanish friars ang mga kasama ko rito. So nag-aaral ako magsalita ng fluent Spanish and Visayan. And also Latin pala, kaysa may mga prayers daw kami na in Latin. Tapos, sisimulan ko na ang taping nung Season 2 ng docu-drama where I appear as a young mayor, ‘Bayan Ko’. Then on Sundays, I’m also with ‘Sunday All Stars’, kaya sobrang busy talaga. But kahit walang lovelife, happy naman ako. I’m helping my family. Nakasosyo ko doon sa Elorde Gym sa Ortigas then I was able to buy a new townhouse in Quezon City na medyo mahal kaya nagsisipag talaga ako para mahulugan ko buwan-buwan.”
What about the story that he had a violent encounter with Jake Cuenca because of Lovi? “It never happened. Nagkita raw kami sa place where Lovi lives at nauwi sa pisikalan. Walang ganun at hindi mangyayari yun kasi I don’t believe in resorting to violence in solving anything. Ang dami kong blessings na natatanggap mula kay Lord, so I should just be thankful at hindi ko na kailangang pumasok sa ganyang mga gulo.”
