DANIELLE CASTANO represented our country in the Miss World pageant in 2008. She’s now managed by Viva Artist Agency and is trying her hand in local showbiz. She played the lead in a film three years ago, “Ang Paglilitis kay Andres Bonifacio”, directed by the late Mario O’Hara, where she was Gregoria de Jesus to Alfred Vargas’ Supremo.
Now, she’s one of the three regular reporters of “Showbiz Police” on TV5, along with MJ Marfori and Divine Lee. They help main hosts Cristy Fermin, Raymond Gutierrez, Lucy Torres and Direk Joey Reyes in reporting about the latest events in showbiz. So how’s it working with Cristy and the other hosts?
“Mababait silang lahat,” she says at the presscon hosted by Viva for her, Meg Imperial and Yam Concepcion.”Lalo si Nanay Cristy, ang sarap kausap. Very helpful sila.”
Dani (her nickname) was born in Panorama City, California on Aug. 21, 1989. She’s the eldest of three sisters. Their parents split and remarried. “I now have two half brothers with my dad and two half brothers also with my mom. I get along fine with both my stepmom and my stepdad. Pero ako lang ang nandito sa Manila and I’m living independently. My two sisters are both in college in the States. I’m enjoying acting here. I also did two movies with Bossing Vic Sotto, ‘Love on Line’ and ‘Enteng Kabisote and Agimat’. Supporting roles lang. Sumali rin ako sa ‘Amazing Race’ ng TV5. Gusto ko na sanang bumalik sa States to continue my college studies but Boss Vic del Rosario of Viva stopped me and told me to stay. Heto nga, napasok niya ko sa TV5 at sabi, mabibigyan daw ako ng teleserye later which I really want to try. Pero pag wala pa ring nangyari, kinukuha na rin ako ng Emirates as a flight attendant. So at least, may iba kong options.”
