Meg Imperial Enjoying Playing Contravida Role In 'Galema'

MEG IMPERIAL is one of Viva’s new leading ladies who was launched earlier this year in Joel Lamangan’s “Menor de Edad”. What’s the public’s reaction to her going sexy in that movie? “Actually, marami ang nagulat kasi akala nila, super bold yun, but it turned out hindi naman pala,” she says. “I did have a sexy love scene with Wendell Ramos, pero wala naman akong pinakita other than my backside. Kaya nga disappointed daw yung ibang nanoood. But because of that movie, mas nakilala ako. Napunta ako sa ABS-CBN and I’m now playing an important role in the afternoon soap, ‘Galema, Anak ni Zuma’. I play Gina, Andi Eigenmann’s sister na may pagka-contravida kasi I figure in a love triangle with her and Matteo Guidicelli. Dahil nga roon, nagkaroon ako ng bashers sa Twitter. Mas gusto raw ng fans ang Matteo-Andi love team at nagagalit sila kasi mas nauna pa kong nakipag-kissing scene kay Matteo kaysa kay Andi gayong siya ang title-roler as ‘Galema’. Pinepersonal nila, e trabaho lang naman yun at inutusan lang ako ni Direk Wenn na gawin yun. But instead of getting mad, tinawanan ko na lang. Enjoy nga ako kasi it only means effective yung acting ko as Gina. E, mabait-bait pa nga si Gina as of now, what pag tumodo na ang pagkokontrabida ko? Di lalo silang maiinis sa’kin.”

Is it true their director, Wenn Deramas, is having a hard time with the neophyte guy chosen to play Zuma, Derrick Hubalde, who reportedly doesn’t know how to act? “Naging close kami ni Derrick kasi akong lagi niyang kinakausap and he admits na he was overwhelmed by the role. Kasi galing siya sa modelling and it’s his first time to act, so nahihirapan talaga siya, lalo na when it comes to memorizing his lines. But then, he’s willing to learn at sobrang bait niya, so I think he’s getting there. Matiyaga rin naman si Direk Wenn to guide him.”

So how’s it working with Direk Wenn? “Masaya siyang katrabaho. Nasanay na kami ng co-stars kong wag mag-memorize ng script kasi on the spot sa taping, pinapalitan din niya ang script para mas gumanda.”

Meg is also doing a new movie, “Aba, Nakakabasa Na Pala Ako”, based on the hit book by Bob Ong who spells it actually in his book as “ABNKKBSNPLAko”. “It’s directed by Mark Meily at kami nina Jericho Rosales and Vandolph play best friends since childhood. Nagkagusto ako kay Jericho, but he rejected me and treats me as one of the boys so parang tomboy-tomboy ako rito. Mas nagustuhan niya si Andi Eigenmann in the story.”

So she’s working with Andi on TV and on the big screen. “Yes, and I’m happy kasi she’s super nice. Magkasundo kami.”

How about her lovelife? “I have some suitors, puro non-showbiz, but I cannot even go out dating with them kasi MWF, I tape for ‘Galema’ and T-Th-S, I shoot naman for our movie. Puro trabaho muna ako and having a lovelife is not a priority.”
