Melissa Ricks Still Friends With Ex Paul Jake Castillo But Not With Jake Cuenca

MELISSA RICKS’ last show, “Walang Hanggan” was a year ago. Her co-stars there, like Coco Martin and Julia Montes, have done other soaps that have already ended, “Juan de la Cruz” and “Muling Buksan ang Puso”. Now, she finally has a new show, “Honesto”, that starts airing tonight. She plays the sister of Paulo Avelino who’s also with her in “Walang Hanggan”.

Did her breakup with Paul Jake Castillo have something to do with her absence? “Hindi naman. Nagbakasyon lang ako sa States to see my father’s side of the family there. I gained weight, nagpapayat muna ako. I’m still trying to lose more weight. Ngayon, fully recharged na. I’m really glad to be part of a good show like ‘Honesto’. I play Leah Liar, isang social climber. May pagka-kontrabida ang role, pero light lang. Medyo may comedy. Mayaman ang family namin pero puro galing sa pagnanakaw. Sina Joel Torre and Angel Aquino ang parents namin dito.”

So how is she and Paul Jake now? “Okay naman, friends kami, pero wala ng commitment.” So why did they split? “We were on for more than a year, then it just didn’t work out. Walang third party involved. Move on na lang.”

If she’s friends with Paul Jake, she cannot say the same for her first boyfriend, Jake Cuenca. “Let’s not just talk about him, please. Hindi rin kami nagkakausap at okay na yung ganun. No need na pahabain pa.”

Is she ready to fall in love again? “Naku, huwag muna. Hindi yata ako suwerte sa pag-ibig. I’ll just devote more time to myself and to my career. Kung may darating, di sige, pero hindi ako maghahanap.”
