PBB Graduate Deniesse Aguilar Gets Big Break As Host Of 'I Dare You'

HER REAL NAME when she joined PBB Unlimited (the batch where Slater Young was the winner) is Denise Joaquin, but she was told to change it so she replaced it with Deniesse Aguilar. There’s a movie writer named Dennis Aguilar, but they’re not related. And we don’t think the new spelling of her name will be easier to remember for the general public. But then, to each his own.

Deniesse is being introduced as one of the four hosts of “I Dare You”, the ABS-CBN reality show whose first season was hosted by Jericho Rosales with Melai Cantiveros and Robi Domingo. Melai and Robi are still there, but Jericho has been replaced by John Prats and Deniesse is added. All of them are bonafide former PBB housemates. Deniesse said she didn’t have to lineup to audition as a housemate. She was in Boracay with some friends when an ABS-CBN talent scout spotted her and asked her if she’d want to join the new season of PBB. “Finals na nang pumasok ako and I’m lucky napili ako agad na pumasok as one of the new housemates,” she says.

Deniesse is 23 and has finished masscomm at UST. She was already doing office work when she was recruited by PBB and she resigned to join showbiz. She was evicted from PBB after she was seen gossiping about the outside world, which is forbidden in the house rules. She guested in several ABS-CBN shows and joined several acting workshops. She considers being a host of “I Dare You” as her biggest break. “Napakasuwerte ko talagang makasama si John Prats kasi maliit pa ako, napapanood ko na siya,” she says. “Hindi ko akalaing magiging co-host niya ako balang araw.”

In an episode of “I Dare You”, shown this Saturday after MMK, entitled “Alab”, she becomes a neophyte firefighter along with their Celebrity Guest, Baron Geisler. They slept in the quarters of real firemen and even joined them in an actual fire fighting operation.
