BEA BINENE is turning 16 today, November 4, and her special gift to her fans is her second album, “Dito sa Puso Ko”, released by PolyEast Records. “This comes really straight from my heart,” she says. “It has more songs to offer than my debut album, ‘Hey It’s Me, Bea’, na naka-gold and platinum record awards. And in time for the Christmas season, my first album is released anew on a limited holiday edition that includes my favorite Christmas dance songs.”
Her new album has songs that speak of teenage love and having wholesome fun, with GMA colleague Ken Chan as her special guest in some songs. The title track is “Dito sa Puso Ko”, a revival of Ogie Alcasid’s hit composition given a fresh new twist with her sweet personality, but sure to be talked about is her duet with Ken, an upbeat version of another Ogie Alcasid hit, “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang”.
Other duets with Ken are “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal” and “Whoops Kirrez”. Bea’s other solo numbers are “High School”, “Ang Tipo Kong Lalake” and “Asa Ka Pa”. Ken also goes solo in “Nais Kong Malaman Mo” and “Sumayaw Sumunod”.
Bea and Ken are now being linked with each other after Bea broke up with Jake Vargas three months ago. Bea says Ken has nothing to do with the split up and swears that he is just a good friend. “Ni hindi nga yan nanliligaw sa’kin,” she says. “Wala naman siyang sinasabi.”
So is she waiting for Ken to court her? “Hindi rin. Kabe-break pa lang namin ni Jake and I don’t want to rush things. Masaya naman kami ni Ken as friends. Chill lang muna kami dahil mas okay na yung friends lang kaysa maging kami nga at mapapasukan lang ng selos.”
Why didn’t she get Jake to duet with her? “Hindi puede kasi he belongs to another recording company.”
What can she say now that Jake is said to be playing beautiful music with Ella Cruz? “Wala naman akong pakialam doon. Basta kunsaan siya masaya, di dun siya.”
She sounds like she’s bitter about it. “Hindi naman. He was a part of my life so kung saan siya masaya, susuportahan ko siya.”
Both Jake and Ken are co-hosts of Kuya Germs in “Master Showman, Walang Tulugan”. Is there any tension between them because of Bea? “Wala po,” says Ken. “Okay kami. Nag-uusap kami. Nag-umpisa lang ang intriga about us nang pinagla-love triangle kami when I appeared with them in the show ‘Home Sweet Home’.”
So what happens to the fans of the Ja-Bea love team? “Tanggap naman po nilang hindi na kami ni Jake, pero mapapanood pa rin nila kaming magkasama in ‘Pepito Manaloto’ and ‘Sunday All Stars’. At saka friends pa rin naman kami ni Jake. But in my new album, pictures namin ni Ken ang makikita nila.”
Bea’s “Dito sa Puso Ko” album is now available in all music stores and also available for download in mymusicstore.com and iTunes worldwide. For more info, visit the Polyeast website at polyeastrecords.com or follow them at Facebook & Twitter.
