KYLIE PADILLA is nervous because, for the first time, she will have a soap on primetime, the big-budgeted fantasy-drama titled “Adarna” that starts airing on Monday to replace “Kahit Nasaan Ka Man”. “Nakakakaba kasi it’s such a big project na ipinagkatiwala sa’kin ng GMA,” she says. “Mahirap ang role ko as Ada, ang taong ibon, kasi I have flying scenes na naka-harness ako. It’s hard, lalo’t paulit-ulit ang paglipad.”
She got a big surprise when her dad, Robin Padilla, suddenly showed up in the “Adarna” presscon at Plaza Ibarra. “Nag-a-apply akong gumanap na ama ni Kylie dito,” he says.
GMA execs say they’re accepting his application, so watch out for his guest appearance in the show. Playing Kylie’s mom is Jean Garcia. They are both from Pugad Sanghaya, the land of the bird people called Adarna. Jean as Lupe has to escape with Kylie as a baby because Dante Rivero as Uwako and Michelle Madrigal as Garuda want to get Kylie because she is the tribe’s chosen one who has special healing powers.
Jean takes the baby to the land of mortals and leaves her under the care of Jestoni Alarcon where she is oppressed by other kids because of the hump on her back, not knowing that it contains her wings. Jestoni’s second wife, Maureen Larrazabal, and daughter, Chynna Ortaleza, both maltreat her. Kylie eventually has three leading men: Geoff Eigenmann as Migo, who she earlier treated with her healing powers when he was still a little boy; Mikael Daez as Falco, the Adarna warrior who becomes her protector; and Benjamin Alves as Bok, the kanto boy who becomes her best friend. Also in the cast are Ryza Cenon as Kylie’s best friend Mikay and Saab Magalona as Geoff’s girlfriend. “Adarna” is directed by Ricky Davao.
