Miss World Megan Young In An Accident In Haiti

THERE’S A report in the Miss World website that current title-holder Megan Young figured in a freak accident while doing charity work in Port Au Prince, Haiti last Oct. 31. She and Miss World big boss Julia Morley was in a building that’s a temporary shelter for 78 orphans they’re supposed to help and cheer up.

The building collapsed and Ms. Morley fractured her hip when she fell 10 feet below. She was rushed to the hospital and surgery had to be performed on her for five hours to repair her hip. An orphan boy named Jonathan was also injured by falling debris and needed medical help. Fortunately for Megan, she landed on her feet and even had the presence of mind to hold on to her crown so it won’t fall off from her head.

In her official statement at the website, Megan sent her well wishes for the speedy of recovery of Ms. Morley and Jonathan. She adds: “It was a real eye opener and just shows how much work needs to be done in Haiti. I want to go back and continue with the work that we have started and make sure nothing like this will happen again."

Megan will be go to New York on November 19 to raise funds for Haiti. She then flies to Los Angeles on November 21. Read also, Now That Megan Young Wins As Miss World, Will Mikael Daez Still Deny Her?
