Rita De Guzman Having A Great Time Playing Gregoria De Jesus On Stage In 'Katipunan, Anak Ng Bayan'

RITA DE GUZMAN feels fortunate that right after “Mundo Mo’y Akin”, she now plays another important role in the new afternoon soap, “Villa Quintana”, as Patrice, the half sister of Janine Gutierrez who’ll try to steal Elmo Magalona from her. “Mabait ako sa simula but then magiging kontrabida later kasi nga magiging love triangle kami ng sister ko with Elmo,” she says. “Ako ang anak ng dad namin, si Paolo Contis, sa real wife niya, si Maricar de Mesa. Siya naman, illegitimate child na ang alam ng lahat, anak niya kay Sunshine Dizon but it will turn out later na iba rin pala ang mother niya.”

Aside from TV, Rita is active in theatre. Since she’s a good singer, she concentrates on doing musicals. “I first did ‘Snow White’ with Ivan Dorschner then ‘Martir sa Golgotha’ at the CCP as Mary Magdalene,” she says. “Now, I play the role of Andres Bonifacio’s wife, Gregoria de Jesus, in Tanghalang Gantimpala’s ‘Anak ng Bayan, Katipunan’, with Sandino Martin as Bonifacio. Alternate kami rito ni Ana Fegi. I will be doing the show at the AFP Theatre on November 22. Mahirap ang play kasi everything is sang through. Walang straight lines, kinakanta lahat. But I enjoy it. After I’ve done theatre once, hinanap-hanap ko kasi iba ang discipline, bawal magkamali kasi walang take two.”
