Ryan Agoncillo optimistic Picture Picture will be a hit with viewers

RYAN AGONCILLO’s new show with GMA-7, “Picture Picture”, is starting on November 23, 6 to 7 PM, to be pitted against his wife Judy Ann Santos’ “Bet on Your Baby”. “When we realized that, pinagtawanan na lang namin,” he says. “Sabi ko, kung walang intriga, walang iintrega. Basta we’re not part of the network wars. As early as now nga, we’re already planning our own joint Christmas party, to be called ‘Picture Your Baby’.”

So if he gets another offer from TV5, he can also take it? “Why not? I didn’t burn my bridges with them. Hindi naman ako nagtampo when they terminated ‘Talentadong Pinoy’. They were offering me ‘Let’s Ask Pilipinas’, but it’s a daily show and in deference to ‘Eat Bulaga’, I’m also hosting it daily, so after my contract with them expired, that’s when we considered the negotiations with GMA. It’s really in GMA that I started my TV career while I was still a student in La Salle. I was with ‘Mornings @ GMA’ that eventually became ‘Unang Hirit’. Two years din ako roon then ABS got me to do ‘Talk TV’, then I did soaps like ‘Krystala’ (where he met Juday and their romance blossomed) and ‘Pieta’. Now, I’m back with GMA for ‘Picture Picture’. I’ve hosted franchise reality shows like ‘Philippine Idol’ and ‘Fear Factor’, but this is my first game show. It’s an original concept. There will be four contestants in each show. The guests for the pilot episode are Allan K, Ruby Rodriguez, Julia Clarete and Isabelle Daza, my co-hosts sa ‘Eat Bulaga’. Sa first round, they’ll all be a team. You can win as much as P500,000 per round. As the show goes on, there’ll be a kickout question where someone will be eliminated, hanggang dalawa na lang ang matira. Then they can choose to still be a team or go solo for the jackpot. All the questions will be based on pictures that we will show to them.”

He’s optimistic that “Picture Picture” will be a hit with viewers. What if GMA offers him a soap since after he did a guest role in “My Husband’s Lover”? “If the role is really good, why not? But right now, our priority ni Juday is our family. Yohan is 9 and Lucho is 3 and we don’t want to miss on their formative years. Also, I’m busy training right now, six days a week, as I will join a triathlon in Batangas on December 7. So I swim, bike, run Tuesday to Sunday. Monday, I tape for ‘Picture Picture’. Kailangan ko nang gumalaw-galaw kasi 34 na ko.”

How come there are persistent reports that not all is well between him and Juday? “Not true. Right now, I’m also eating healthy to prepare for the triathlon and my wife prepares my baon everyday to make sure I eat right. Pag bukas ko ng baon ko, may love letter pang kasama. So we’re okay. Wag kayong maniniwala sa mga tsismis.”
