ALDEN RICHARDS bids 2013 goodbye with a smile as it’s been a really good year for him, what with him now having an entry in the Metro filmfest, “10,000 Hours”, topbilled by Robin Padilla no less. Alden’s rise to fame is nothing short of meteoric. After he was rejected in Starstruck 5, he was chosen to play Louise de los Reyes’ leading man in “Alakdana”. Endorsements came and movies like “Ang Panday 2” and “The Road”. He shone in “My Beloved” and “One True Love” with Louise and later, in “Mundo Mo’y Akin”. He ushers in the coming new year as the leading man of GMA’s Primetime Queen no less, Marian Rivera, in “Carmela”.
Known for his clean cut boy-next-door good looks, he now spreads his wings playing a tough guy bad boy in “Carmela”. In “10,000 Hours”, he is a young cop and he does his own stunts and fight routines to prove he can be a brawny action star. “I went through a lot of training for my role, martial arts and target shooting as it’s the first time I get to handle a live gun,” he says. “Wala akong stunt double dito at ako mismo ang gumawa ng lahat ng eksena ko, kaya pinag-aralan ko the right way to fall without getting hurt or getting yourself injured. I loved it. Gusto ko pang mag-action. I’m thankful to have been personally handpicked by my idol, Kuya Robin, and director Joyce Bernal. Now that I’ve gotten to know him, I learned that he’s a genuinely nice person who is very devoted to his craft. I want to stay long in the business like him. And I learned so much from Direk Joyce. With her guiding me, everything went smoothly. I became more at ease and confident with my work.”
He’s excited to be Marian’s partner in “Carmela”. “She’s one of the most professional actresses I’ve worked with. I have to be on my toes para makasabay sa husay niya sa acting, but I’m thankful that she makes everything so much easier for me.”
His debut album is one of the best sellers of Universal Album for 2013. He hopes to do more albums in 2014. “I’m very blessed to be given the opportunity to have an album. I’m glad I can balance both acting and singing, and my fans support it.”
