KC CONCEPCION made the right decision when she chose not to meddle in the issue between her half sister Chloie Skarne and their mutual dad, Gabby Concepcion. Chloie is Gabby’s daughter with Jenny Syquia who grew up in Sweden and took the family name of Jenny’s Swedish husband, Filip Skarne. Chloie has been in Manila for sometime but she hasn’t seen their dad yet, even if Gabby has already expressed his desire to meet her.
“Me and my other half sister, Garrie (Gabby’s daughter with Grace Ibuna), have talked about it,” she says. “Like her, pareho kami ni Garrie na matagal hindi nakita ang dad namin when he moved to the States in the mid-90s. We didn’t have any communication at all for 13 years. When I turned 21, I told my mom na 21 na ako and if something would happen with my dad, I might not be able to forgive myself kasi alam kong nangdiyan lang siya. I said I wanted to see him when I go to the U.S. and my mom agreed. Chloie is already 20 years old, she can already make decisions for herself. Mahirap namang piliting makipagkita siya sa daddy namin if she feels that she’s not prepared yet. It’s a personal thing between him and her. Dapat ma-feel muna niyang ready na nga siya. But I made it clear rin kay Tita Jenny na I will support Chloie if she’d decide na gusto na niyang makita ang dad namin.”
KC has a lot more publicity than Gov. Jeorge Estregan, her leading man in “Boy Golden” who plays the title role. This is because she’s a property of Viva Entertainment who called for a solo presscon just for her to support her appearance in the Metro filmfest entry that is directed by Chito Rono and got an A rating from the Cinema Evaluations Board.
About predictions that she’d win the Metro filmfest best actress trophy in the awards night to be held tonight at the Meralco Theatre, KC says she doesn’t want to expect anything. “Basta I gave my best to my role as Marla, a night club dancer who falls in love with Boy Golden. With the help of Direk Chito Rono, I’m confident nagawa ko naman yun ng tama. But I’m going to the awards not because umaasa akong manalo kundi isa kasi ako sa nahilingang maging hosts ng awards night. Pinaghandaan ko talaga pati gowns na isusuot ko rito kasi I don’t want to be accused again na ang gown na ginamit ko, like in the Star Awards where I won best supporting actress, was already used by first some other actress.”
