Prolific Producer Dennis Evangelista Now Shoots 'Bigkis' & 'Homeless' For 2014

ONE OF THE most active indie film producers is Dennis Evangelista. This passing year, he did three fine films: “Burgos” starring Lorna Tolentino, “Lihis” with Jake Cuenca and Joem Bascon, and “Lauriana” with Allen Dizon and Bangs Garcia. These films will surely garner some nominations for its actors in next year’s award-giving derbies, like Lorna as Mrs. Edith Burgos, Jake as the gay NPA rebel and Allen as the bipolar soldier who’s so mean to Bangs.

For 2014, Dennis is currently producing two new movies for Mrs. Baby Go, directed by Buboy Tan. Already in the can is “Bigkis”, about motherhood and teenage pregnancy, starring Lauren Young, LJ Reyes, Rich Asuncion, Mike Tan, Enzo Pineda, Rosanna Roces, Perla Bautista and Pancho Magno. The other one is the big-budgeted “Homeless”, about the victims of disasters, partly filmed in Cambodia and starring Ejay Falcon, Martin del Rosario, Snooky Serna, Emilio Garcia, Dimples Romana, Ynna Asistio and Rustica Carpio.

Also next in line is a film inspired by the news story of a man who is so poor he doesn’t have money to get his dead son from a hospital morgue so he escapes with the body. This will be helmed by “Babagwa” director Jason Paul Laxamana, starring Allen Dizon as the hapless father who is a coffin maker in Pampanga.
