THE COMING METRO FILMFEST will not only be a showdown between best friends Vice Ganda (“Boy Girl Bakla Tomboy”) and Kris Aquino (“Little Bossing”) but also between an uncle and his nephew. So who’ll emerge victorious at the box office, the older Padilla or the younger one, both of whom have their own legion of fans?
Robin Padilla stars in the action-drama “10,000 Hours” while the son of his brother Rommel, Daniel Padilla, stars in the horror flick, “Pagpag”. A Daniel defender says that the edge of their idol is that he is paired with his tried and tested partner, Kathryn Bernardo, and their love team will be hard to beat, what with so many Kathniel fans supporting it.
But Robin diehards say that “10,000 Hours” will surely appeal to fans of hard action films who haven’t seen this kind of local film for some time now. Robin himself is proud that he is able to do this kind of meaningful, timely movie of high quality, filmed in Amsterdam at that. His producer Neil Arce, is also a hands on executive producer who made sure no stone is left unturned for them to come up with a film that will not only win awards but also rake in the moolah at the box office as it’s a sure crowdpleaser, with slambang action scenes as well as touching dramatic scenes involving family drama.
“At hindi naman kami dapat pagsabungin ni Daniel dahil magkaibang-magkaiba ang pelikula namin,” says Binoe. “Nananakot sila, kami naman, political drama-thriller ang ’10,000 Hours’ na loosely based sa nangyari kay Sen. Ping Lacson na nawala for 10,000 hours after he was hunted down by his political enemies. Napanood na niya ang movie and natutuwa kami dahil he is very pleased with it.”
