As Expected, Kris Aquino Chooses To Stay With ABS-CBN

SO IT’S MUCH ADO about nothing. After several days of speculation as to whether she’s leaving ABS-CBN and moving to GMA-7 that would have allegedly been bought by Manny Pangilinan, Kris Aquino officially announced in social media that she’s staying put as a Kapamilya: “I have been w/ ABSCBN for 18 years & like any other family we've had our ups & downs and sometimes unavoidable "tampuhan"- but we remain FAMILY. My manager Deo Endrinal continued talks w/ our ABS bosses during the Christmas break & it is w/ much joy that I share w/ you that we have RENEWED my ABS-CBN contract. I am grateful to my ABS CBN bosses, Sir Gabby, Ma'am Charo, and tita Cory for the trust, value & importance they have given me.”

We’re sure Manny Pangilinan is very much disappointed with her decision since we heard the offer to Kris was bigger than the offer Sharon Cuneta got when she moved to TV5. He must’ve felt he was just used as leverage for Kris to get a better deal in renewing her contract with ABS. ABS bosses reportedly topped what was offered to Kris and told her to ask for anything and it’ll be given to her. We don’t know how true this is but Kris’ request is for her to be paired with John Lloyd Cruz and Coco Martin, the top Kapamillya actors today, in a primetime soap. They will play two young men fighting over her. If it’s true that this was granted, let’s see if we’d really see such a show airing on ABS later this year. As we all know, Kris’ last soap, “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” with Robin Padilla and Anne Curtis, didn’t rate as expected so it was quickly axed. But as one Kris fan said, “sana mag-stick na lang siya sa hosting.”
