THE PADILLA CLAN of actors came in full force to the presscon of their movie, “Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at Mga Anak”, led by Robin Padilla who plays Ongkoy, the former leader of the group of anti-vigilantes known as Kuratong Baleleng who became famous in Ozamis City in the 70s. Also in the movie is his brother Rommel Padilla and Rommel’s son, Daniel, together with Robin’s wife, Mariel; daughter, Kylie; and niece, Bela, plus nephews Matt and RJ Padilla. RJ is also in the horror movie, “Basement”.
Robin might be the most senior among them in terms of popularity but no doubt it’s Daniel who’s the teen idol of the moment. In the recent Metro-Manila Filmfest, it’s common knowledge that Daniel’s horror entry, “Pagpag”, easily eased out Uncle Robin’s “10,000 Hours” at the box office. But it is Robin who won the award for the best actor in the filmfest awards night.
Daniel, who Robin says will lead the next generation of Padillas, feels it’s really an honor to be acting with his relatives in “Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at Mga Anak”.
Meantime, Robin is confident that action-drama lovers will enjoy “Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at mga Anak”, directed by Jon Villarin, a socio-historic film that offers many insights about ideology, truth, justice and faith.
