K Brosas Thrilled To Play A Lesbian Role In New John Lloyd Cruz Movie

K BROSAS is one singer-comedienne who’s very popular among Filipino communities in various countries. “I’ve performed in the U.S., Asia, Australia, Europe, the Scandinavian countries of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, and the Middle East,” she says. “Heto nga, kagagaling ko lang sa London. While there, nanood ako ng musical na ‘The Bodyguard’ sa West End. Ang ganda. Noong kinakanta na ang songs popularized by Whitney Houston, parang gusto kong umakyat sa stage at makialam sa pagkanta nila. Ngayon, paalis na naman ako to do shows in Kuwait, Guam and Qatar.”

Pinoys who watch her videotapes her shows and uploads them on youtube. We’ve seen some of them and K is really funny doing her song numbers mixed with stand up comedy routines.

In the movies, we last saw her in “The Mistress” as the best friend of Bea Alonzo. That was in 2012 yet. How come she’s been absent on the big screen for sometime now? “Kasi nga lagi akong wala. But I’ll soon start shooting a new movie. Ang ganda ng role ko kaya excited ako, pero takot din kasi baka hindi ko magawa. Nanay ako ni John Lloyd Cruz, pero tomboy ako. As in ayos lalake talaga. Natatakot nga ako but our director, Chito Rono, told me, huwag kang matakot, ma-challenge ka. Pagtutulungan daw namin yung role ko. Bale second movie ko ito with Direk Chito kasi nagkasama na kami before sa thriller na ‘T2’ with Maricel Soriano.”

How’s her daughter, Crystal? “She’s now 16 years old. Matangkad ding gaya ko, pero morena. Pam-beauty queen ang dating. Pero sabi ko, kung sasali siya, pag mas mature na siya. High school pa lang, e. Pero sobrang galing magsayaw kaya pina-enroll ko sa G Force Dance Group. Kumakanta rin at naggigitara.”

So does she have a new boyfriend? “Wala. Nine years na akong tigang. Not by choice, ha. May sumumpa yata sa’kin, e. Ang last boyfriend ko, Australian. Mas gusto ako ng mga foreigner, e.”

K regularly performs at Zirkoh Morato on Mondays and at Klownz Quezon Avenue on Tuesdays. She will do shows in Guam with comedian Pooh on January 31 and in Kuwait on February 27 and 28, then in April, she’ll have a U.S. and Canada tour titled “4 Da Laffs” with Pook, Pokwang and Chokoleit.
