“There was an audition, screen test and I heard I was personally chosen by our director, Joyce Bernal, and for that, I’m thankful,” says Kim.
It’s said that Bea is cold to her now because of this, but she doesn’t mind. “I still consider her my friend. Hindi ko naman kasalanan na ako ang napili. Pero nagpapasalamat talaga ako na after matapos ang first solo soap kong, ‘Kakambal ni Eliana’, heto, may kasunod na uli.”
So is she really ready to show some skin? “I play the role of Josephine, an island girl in Isla de Amor, so naka-white kamison ako rito, wet look. Buti na lang marunong talaga akong lumangoy. Maraming underwater scenes at sa beaches ng Bolinao, Pangasinan kami nagte-taping. May kissing scenes din daw with Kristoffer Martin. I’ll be 20 this year, so puede na siguro to do more mature roles. Hindi naman puedeng more sexy than that kasi we’ll be shown sa 6 PM slot so maraming kids na nanonood doon. Binago lang ang hair ko rito. Kasi straight ang hair ko, so kinulot nila.”
Kristoffer Martin plays Tupe. He’s also one of her leading men in “Kakambal ni Eliana”. Playing villain to them now is Joyce Ching, Kristoffer’s ex-girlfriend in real life. It’s said that she’s actually the cause of their breakup when she was doing “Eliana” with Kris. “That’s not true. Naging best friends lang kami ni Kris but hindi naman siya nanligaw sa akin. Gusto ko nga, magkabalikan sila, e. Nakasama ko na sila pareho sa ‘Tween Hearts’ before kaya friends ko na sila dati pa. And as of now, focused lang muna ako talaga sa work.”
Also in the cast are Janno Gibbs as the fisherman who rescues Tupe when he and Josephine try to escape from the island, Gabby Eigenmann as Kim’s real dad, G Toengi as Tupe’s real mom, Jezza Zaragoza as the villainous Yvette, Neil Ryan Seses as Yvette’s bodyguard, Maricel Morales as Janno’s wife, Irene Celebre as Herminia, and Joey Marquez in a special role as the mysterious hermit in Isla de Amor who becomes the guardian of Kim and Kris.
