BON JOVI OSORIO is one of the most promising among the new actors launched by Backroom in Not Your Ordinary Boys and Girl, the showgroup that performs regularly in Casino Filipino branches all over the country. Bon was named by his parents after singer Jon Bon Jovi. Their family moved to California when he was 7 years old. Sharmaine Arnaiz is his aunt. When he was a teener, he took a vacation in Manila and Boy Abunda encouraged him to try showbiz. His parents allowed him to do so and he was able to do several TV commercials. “But I wasn’t successful in showbiz so my parents told me to return to the U.S. and just finished my studies,” he says. “I finished business at the University of California in Ervine and then I asked them to allow me to go back sa Manila and they agreed naman. Tamang-tama, Kuya Boy was forming a group called Backroom 5. Kasama pa namin noon si Alden Richards, who’s now with GMA. Then Kuya Boy organized NYOBG and I became a part of it. We have shows scheduled all over the country up to June 2014. Masaya kasi lagi kaming may road trip and it’s the best way to know the Philippines. This weekend, we’ll perform at Casino Mimosa Satellite on Friday and Airport Casino Filipino on Saturday.
I’m now 23 and I’m giving myself about five years to make it as an actor. I’m not in a hurry. I believe if you get to the top so fast, you’ll also go down fast. So I attend workshops, I go to auditions and as of now, I play a supporting role in ‘Maria Mercedes’ as a friend of Jake Cuenca. I’m also in a new brandy and noodles commercials. I’m hoping this year, makagawa sana ako ng movie.”
