LAST YEAR, Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid were with Martin and Pops Fernandez in their “Four-some” Valentine concert. This February 14, she and Martin will be together again, just the two of them.
“Request kasi ng fans, kami lang daw,” says Regine. “The last time we had a back to back concert na kaming dalawa lang was 10 years ago pa at noon pa, may nagre-request nang gawin namin uli yun so now, heto na. Our ‘Voices of Love’ concert will be held right on the day of hearts at kaya Voices ang nasa title, kasi gusto lang naming kumanta nang kumanta. We’ll be singing love songs, both old and new, but with new arrangements by Louie Ocampo and Raul Mitra.”
So she won’t be with Ogie on Valentine’s Day? “Yes, hiwalay na kami. Pinag-usapan naman namin yun, kasi magtatrabaho muna kami separately dahil may sarili rin siyang concert sa Music Museum. You know naman, Valentine is really a big event here. Pinag-iipunan talaga ng bonggang-bongga ng mga Pilipino kaya we artists all have shows para sa mga magde-date. So Ogie and I usually celebrate it before the actual Valentine’s Day. Tradition na for him yung he gives me long stemmed red roses as big as my fists. Once, dinala niya ko sa Tagaytay. Minsan naman, he filled up our room with rose petals tapos may candlelight dinner at sinayaw niya ko habang pinapatugtog ang ‘Love Me Tender’ ni Elvis Presley. At lagi siyang may gift for me. O, ang sweet, di ba?”
So what are her other plans for 2014. “Aside from “Sarap Diva”, I will have a new soap. Halos three years na rin akong walang soap as I opted to spend more time with our son Nate. Ngayong malaki na siya, puede na ko uli magpuyat sa tapings. I’ll be meeting with GMA after the Valentine concert and they’re going to present to me some concepts and stories na puede kong gawin. I’m sure maninibago ko kasi nasanay na kong nasa bahay lang most of the time.”
And while she’s taping the soap, she’d get pregnant again like what happened when she was doing “I Heart You, Pare”. “Ganun? Sige, sana nga. Gusto na nga naming sundan si Nate.”
How was her vacation with Ogie and Nate with Michelle Van Eimeren’s family in Sydney? “Bitin. One week lang kasi kami. But they celebrate New Year’s Eve there ng bonggang-bongga. Ogie rented a yacht para makita namin nang husto ang fireworks sa Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Sobrang ganda talaga.”
Her first concert with Martin ten years ago was produced by Anna Puno and her brother Felix for MaxiMedia. Now, the producer is Anna for her Star Media, to be held at SM MOA Arena, 8 PM, on Valentine’s Day that falls on a Friday. For details, contact Star Media at 854-3300 or get your tickets at SM Ticket outlets at 470-2222. Incidentally, we’re praying for Anna’s quick recovery. She stabbed her foot with a needle left lying on the floor and it’s now embedded in her bone so she walks with a cane. She’ll have to undergo surgery to remove it. Get well soon, Anna.
