RYAN AGONCILLO and his staffers in “Picture Picture” are in an upbeat mood because their game show is number one in Mega-Manila, beating the rival show hosted by his own wife Judy Ann Santos on Saturday nights. What did Juday say about it?
“At home, we don’t talk about the ratings, e,” he says. “We don’t discuss our shows at all. All I know is that matatapos na yung show niya and papalitan agad ng another reality show, ‘I Do’, about weddings. But I’m really thankful that the reception to ‘Picture Picture’ is very warm at ang ganda ng feedback.”
So with Juday’s another show coming up, does that mean they won’t have another baby soon? “No, it’s business as usual. Hindi naman stop production dahil makakagawa naman ng another baby kahit may show. It’s all up to the Lord. When she first got pregnant, I recall she was doing a soap then. But we do want to have another child. Sana nga, kung makatsamba, kambal na.”
Did he have any difficulty hosting an original concept like “Picture Picture”? “Hindi naman. Konting adjustment lang as I’m working with a new team, e nasanay ako sa ‘Talentadong Pinoy’ team ko. But my new team is really very efficient. We’re working like clock work kaya mabilis ang trabaho. Nakakatapos kami taping two episodes in four hours kaya maaga kami nakakauwi. Ang galing ni Direk Rico Gutierrez in running the set so well. Masaya kami lahat, even the contestants we get sa show. I enjoy leading and helping them to get the prize. And I really enjoy hosting it kasi even viewers tell me they’re excited in guessing kung ano ang tamang sagot. In future episodes, they ask me if I could upload few of my own photos, whether taken from my Instagram account or past archives. I’ll be uploading photos na doon manggagaling yung questions. Maybe one or two photos per episode.”
How about acting? What’s next after the acclaimed “Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap” with Direk Joey Reyes? “There have been offers and I’m really challenged by acting. When I was younger, I’m prejudiced to it but ngayong na-experience ko na, I’m intrigued by it. Gusto ko siyang mas matutuhan. But I consider myself a host first, my bread and butter. I also miss doing comedy, so baka mag-guest muna ako sa ‘Bubble Gang’, kaya lang pareho kami ng taping day, Monday. As a host naman, I also want to try doing a news and public affairs show, baka specials focusing on health issues after ma-dengue ako last year.”
As an athlete, Ryan continues to train for the triathlon. “I joined the triathlon in Batangas last December at natapos ko naman. In March, I’ll be joining the one in Cebu and in April, in New Zealand.”
