Sharon Cuneta And Richard Gomez Reunited In 'Madam Chairman'

SHARON CUNETA is reunited with ex-BF Richard Gomez in TV5’s hit tawaserye, “Madam Chairman”. “When he did a guest appearance in ‘The Mega and the Songwriter’, I asked him if he could also guest in ‘Madam Chairman’ and I was touched kasi pumayag siya agad,” says Sharon when we dropped by their taping.

“Sharon and I have always worked well together,” says Richard. “I play Enzo, her former sweetheart and first love who went to the States. Tapos nagbalikbayan ako at hinanap ko agad siya as Bebeth. Masaya rito sa set nila. Ang bilis magtrabaho ni Direk Joel Lamangan.”

“E, nagkataon I’m having problems with my husband, Dodong, played by Jay Manalo, na nang makita si Richard, nataranta agad at gustong mag-reconcile kami,” adds Sharon. “We’ve remained friends naman ni Richard through the years. Even after we got married na, we did two movies, ‘Minsan Minahal Kita’ and the last one was in 2003 in ‘Walang Kapalit’. Hindi naman kami nag-break na magkagalit, so we were never hostile to each other.”

Richard taped for three days in the show and his first appearance will be shown tonight up to next week. “Madam Chairman” will be taping for five more weeks then it will be replaced by “My Pirated Family”, with Richard, hopefully, as Sharon’s leading man since his prospective soap with Dawn Zulueta on ABS-CBN has been shelved. There’s also a TV movie being prepared for them in TV5’s new show featuring original full length films that will start in February. Sharon’s own series, “Minamahal”, is slated for the third quarter of 2014.
“I will not be hosting it like ‘Maalaala’,” she says. “Instead, we’ll feature a song of the week and I will just sing the theme song with a story to be presented showing other stars. The stories will not come from letters but original ones.”

She adds that it’s not true “The Mega and the Songwriter” has been axed. “There was just a miscommunication. We’re taping again next week. Sayang naman ang format. Ogie and I are both singers and we really enjoy doing it.”

How did she spend her birthday on January 6? “Very simply but it’s one of the happiest. We went to Bangkok for a change of scenery and atmosphere. Kiko asked me where I want to have lunch and I said in an ordinary food court in a department store. Konti ang Filipino roon so we’re free to go anywhere. There’s a bookstore there at maghapon na kami roon ng mga anak ko. For dinner, we went to a Vietnamese restaurant.”

Doesn’t she regret leaving Twitter? “No, I’m not really meant for social media. It’s nice to communicate with your fans but the bashers are really bastos, so why waste my time on them. Hindi ako lumaki sa henerasyon ng mga tao who have nothing better to do na ang mga kalaban mo, hindi mo kakilala. Nakarating naman ako to where I am without social media, so okay na. But I did meet some very good people also on Twitter na na-meet ko na.”

How’s daughter KC doing? “She’s now in New York. She’ll be taking up some acting classes and is excited to learn from new teachers. She really enjoys going around New York by herself.”
