Angel Aquino Shines As The Female Lead In TV5's 'Bawat Sandali'

ANGEL AQUINO delivers a fine lead performance in TV5’s “Bawat Sandali” to be shown tonight at 8 PM on “Studio 5 Original Movies”. Angel is usually relegated to playing supporting or villain roles in teleseryes and even on the big screen. But here, she gets the chance to shine as a lonely wife who’s vacationing in Batangas with her only daughter while her husband (Yul Servo) is so busy with work in Manila.

By chance, she meets Derek Ramsay, a balikbayan from the States, and they become friends when Derek rescues her daughter when she’s about to be hit by a car. One thing leads to another and Angel finds herself accepting Derek’s invitation to have dinner that eventually leads to them doing a hot love scene. Derek wants to continue their affair but Angel is adamant in saying it’s all a mistake. While they’re arguing, Angel accidentally pushes Derek and he flies out of the window into the concrete ground. Thinking she has killed him, she asks her best friend, Mylene Dizon, to get rid of the body. But Derek turns out to be alive and Angel becomes so frantic when a nosey police investigator, Phillip Salvador, starts tracing her relationship to Derek.

“Bawat Sandali” was originally directed by Eric Quizon but he had a falling out with TV5 so it was completed by Joel Lamangan. Years ago, Joel started directing the gay love story “Pusong Mamon”, but he had a mild stroke so it was finished for him by Eric. They can now call it quits.

“Bawat Sandali” is expertly written by Raquel Villavicencio who constructed it like a thriller, reminding us of a similar movie, “Moment to Moment”, which was a big hit when shown at the Universal Theatre in Avenida Rizal in 1965, starring Jean Seberg as the wife, Sean Garrison as the lover, Honor Blackman as the best friend and Arthur Hill as the husband. The most unforgettable scene for us there was the scene where the swallows come back to Capistrano where the lovers met. It also has a hit theme song, “From Moment to Moment”.

Going back to Angel Aquino, she’s so beautiful on screen and the camera just loves her. We wish she’d be given more challenging lead roles on the big screen after this. She most certainly deserves it. She’ll next be seen on ABS-CBN’s new soap, “Ikaw Lamang”. Meantime, don’t miss “Bawat Sandali” on TV5 tonight.
