MARK NEUMANN is a balikbayan from Europe when he joined “Artista Academy” or AA two years ago. He didn’t win but he now has a movie with Alice Dixson, “The Lady Next Door”; the gag show “Tropang Unli” with Ogie Alcasid; and a new daily tawaserye also with Ogie Alcasid, “Confessions of a Torpe”, which will replace Sharon Cuneta’s “Madam Chairman”. He seems to have edge out AA winner Vin Abrenica. Is there no rivalry between them?
“There’s none,” he says at the presscon of “Studio 5 Original Movies” that starts airing tonight at 8 PM. “We’re all happy for each other kapag may bagong project ang sinuman sa amin. Nagkakantiyawan kami ng ‘blow out naman diyan’.”
How is it working with Alice Dixson as his leading lady in “Lady Next Door”? “The whole experience of shooting it is amazing, with Ms. Alice, with Tita Boots Anson Roa who plays my lola, and with Director Joel Lamangan. Ms. Alice knows baguhan ako at nahihiya pa ko sa kanya, so she’s so supportive. I’m so lucky that hindi pa-cute ang role ko rito but a serious one. Nagrerebelde ako sa U.S. dahil nag-split ang parents ko, so my mom, Bing Loyzaga, sent me to my Lola here in the Philippines. I feel so comfortable with Tita Boots kasi she was our mentor in AA personality development then. Talagang she treated me like her own grandson. As for Direk Joel, natural lang na mapagalitan ako because he’s just being professional. I got tense but dahil doon na-challenge ako to do good. I really feel blessed sila ang mga nakasama ko rito sa ‘Lady Next Door’.”
He can relate to his role because he only lives with his uncle here in Manila. His dad is Fil-German while his mom is Croatian. Both live in Europe. “They’ve seen my performance in various websites and they’re proud of me. They just watch me online, but I intend to send them a copy of ‘Lady Next Door’ para mapanood nila ang first movie ko.”
