GMA-7 CALLED for a special presscon to make a surprise announcement, which turns out to be Dennis Trillo’s decision to renew his contract with them. His manager, Popoy Caritativo, admitted they got an offer to transfer to another network, but in the end, Dennis chose to say with GMA-7. So how much increase did he get in his talent fee?
“The amount is not really that important for me,” he says. “Ang importante rito, yung pagpapahalagang ibinibigay sa’kin ng GMA. I can really feel they value me and my talent. After my contract with them expired, I admit we considered other options but mas mahal ko ang GMA so I’m staying here. Bale 11 years na ko rito since I joined them in 2003 in ‘Kahit Kailan’.”
He admits last year’s hit soap “My Husband’s Lover” helped a lot in pushing his career. “When the cast of the show did a series of concerts in five cities in the States, doon namin na-feel how great the impact of the show is pati sa viewers abroad. Kilala nila kami ni Tom as Eric and Vincent, at si Carla Abellana as Lally. Ang saya. We really had a great time with our fans there.”
So what’s his next project for GMA-7? “Siempre, I want a project na kung puede, mas matindi pa sa ‘My Husband’s Lover’. But right now, Tom and I are busy promoting our Tom-Den album that has reached gold status. May gagawin pa kaming mall shows. Then I have two movies to shoot for Regal.”
GMA Exec Lilybeth Rasonable says they’re now searching a good project for Dennis. “It’ll be difficult to top ‘My Husband’s Lover’ kasi it’s really a phenomenon, but we will try to come up with a project na kapag inilatag namin kay Dennis, makikita niyang it will help further exploit and enhance his acting talents.”
Will he still be willing to work with Marian Rivera, who had a falling out with their manager, Popoy? “Hindi naman ako namimili ng kapareha. I’ve worked with Marian before at okay naman kami. Magaling siyang artista so I see no problem kung pagtatambalin uli kami.”
