IT’S FINAL. Al Tantay will replace the late Roy Alvarez in the pivotal role of the manipulative Don Manolo in the hit afternoon soap, “Villa Quintana”. It’ll be recalled that GMA had to look for a replacement after Roy made a sudden departure due to cardiac arrest at the age of 63.
Al is only 48 years old, but they say his looks resemble that of Roy. We’re not sure about that, but we’re happy for Al since his character in ABS-CBN’s “Got to Believe”, has already been killed. He plays a driver there and now, he’s the rich and authoritarian Don Manolo no less. Isn’t that what you may call a reversal of fortune? The late Roy has taped several advanced episodes so he will still be seen in the show until the end of February. Al as Don Manolo will be appearing starting the first week of March.
