JASMINE CURTIS SMITH feels blessed that she has a new telemovie, “The Replacement Bride”, and she has also started taping some episodes for her new drama anthology, to be titled “Jas Mine”. We saw the press preview of “Replacement Bride” and Jasmine proves her award-winning performance in “Transit” is not a fluke. She shines once again in the title role, looking so lovable and endearing opposite the Brapanese model-actor Daniel Matsunaga who looks impossibly handsome on screen (too bad he doesn’t speak Tagalog fluently.)
“Replacement Bride” is the third movie to be shown in “Studio 5 Original Movies” this Tuesday, after “Lady Next Door” and “When I Fall in Love”. This one is a romantic comedy directed by Mac Alejandre who captures the beautiful ambiance of the quaint town of Pila, Laguna (where it’s partly shot on location), with its old and stately houses. So how is it working with Daniel?
“My Ate Anne is happy I’m paired with him kasi they worked together in a shoot done last year in Brazil,” she says. “Kengkoy na kengkoy siya, parang Pinoy na Pinoy kaya magaan katrabaho. And he’s serious with his work, talagang inaaral na mabuti ang script and he tries to perfect his Tagalog.”
Why is her “Spin Nation” taking a rest? “Yun talaga ang contract, e. 13 weeks lang. But I was told we might return on the air in March.”
How is it working with Nora Aunor in “Dementia”? “We just shot the teaser but principal photography starts in April pa, then we’ll shoot it nang tuloy-tuloy hanggang matapos. I heard all the stories about her being a superstar and how fans would go wild before when they see her. It’s really great to have the chance working with her.”
What is her plans for Valentine’s Day (which was yesterday), with her special someone, Sam Concepcion? “I’m not sure about his plans but I’m reserving it for free so bahala na.”
Anne Curtis is turning 29 on Monday? What’s her wish for her Ate Anne? “She’s already so blessed, but I wish her more happiness, no more controversies. She’s so glad to play Dyesebel pero naunahan ko na siyang magsirena when I played a mermaid in a spoof of ‘Pidol’s Wonderland’ two years ago, ‘Dyesebilbil’.”
