For a while, ABS even lent him to TV5 to do “Lipgloss”. He was first paired with Erich Gonzales in “Katorse” and “Tanging Yaman”, next with Queenie Padilla in “Momay” and “Guns and Roses”, and the movie “Tum, My Pledge of Love”. But it’s as a young action star that he made his mark in “Dugong Buhay”.
He’s now doing one movie after another. In the last Metro filmfest, he had an indie film entry, “Saka-Saka”, and a mainstream entry, “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy”. He has just finished “Third Eye” for Regal Entertainment and is about to wrap up work for another indie film, “Homeless”. He’s excited with “Third Eye” because he’s the leading man of Carla Abellana, who’s a Kapuso actress.
“Kabado ako noong una kay Carla kasi magkaiba kami ng network,” he says. “Tapos, first scene namin, kissing scene agad kahit hindi pa kami nakakapag-usap at wala pang bonding. But it turned out mabait naman pala siya and I really learned a lot while working with her. Si Camille Prats, taga-GMA rin, idol ko yan noong bata ako kasi napapanood ko siya as a child star. Si Denise, pareho kong Kapamilya, pero ngayon ko lang nakasama. Masarap sila lahat katrabaho.”
He plays Carla’s husband who gets frustrated when Carla can’t give him a child so he gets Denise Laurel to be his lover, who quickly gets pregnant. This will lead to a series of events that will take them to a village inhabited by the living dead, led by Camille and Alex Medina. “Maraming scary scenes ang movie,” adds Ejay. “Mahusay si Direk Aloy Adlawan. Cool lang siya sa set. Importante sa’kin yung hindi nagagalit, sumisigaw at nagmumura kasi matatakot kang mag-suggest. Si Direk Aloy, very approachable at open sa artista kaya mas okay katrabaho.”
