A NUMBER OF showbiz people have passed these past few days: comedian Arvin “Tado” Jimenez, veteran writer Fely Igmat, Mang Gerry Velasquez (dad of Regine), former actor Roy Rustan (son of actress Laila Dee) and the latest is actor Roy Alvarez who succumbed to cardiac arrest. He still has a continuing role in the current GMA-7 hit afternoon soap, “Villa Quintana”. He’s real name is Leandro and he was born on March 23, 1950 in Pagbilao, Quezon. He has appeared as a villain in several movies and also did one movie where he played the lead role, “Punglo Bawat Hakbang”. He was very active on GMA-7 soaps like “Amaya”, “Alice Bungisngis”, “Pahiram ng Sandali” and “Unforgettable”. Condolences to his wife Nieves and daughter Mirren. Let’s pray for the repose of the souls of these showbiz personalities who have gone to the great beyond.
Meantime, GMA-7 is now looking for an actor who’d replace Roy in his pivotal role as the powerful and manipulative Don Manolo in “Villa Quintana”. We’re recommending Phillip Salvador who will certainly do great as the new Don Manolo. And it will help that he and the show’s director, Gina Alajar, have worked several times before.
