MAX COLLINS was supposed to play a supporting role in “Carmela” but she was suddenly yanked out of its cast. “Akala ko, nawalan pa ko ng show kasi my last soap was ‘Pahiram ng Sandali’ eight months ago. But I got the surprise of my life when I was told I’ll be playing the lead role in ‘Innamorata’. Hindi nga ako makapaniwala and it took some time bago nag-sink in na bida na nga ako rito.”
“Innamorata” will replace ‘Magkano Ba ang Pag-ibig” on GMA-7’s Afternoon Prime starting the 3rd week of February. It is about the rare disease called porphyria which affects the blood and skin. It makes a person very sensitive to light. “Kaya naka-prosthetic make up ako rito kasi parang nasunog ang balat ko. Parang nag-chicharon. It takes two hours to put it on sa mukha ko, sa neck ko, sa arms ko. Nag-allergy nga ako roon sa pandikit at nag-break ang skin ko.”
She’s paired with Luis Alandy in the show. She works in the shoe factory owned by Luis’ dad, Michael de Mesa. Luis turns out to be exact lookalike of her great grandmother, Gwen Zamora, who lived in the 1920s. Gwen’s spirit lives inside a portrait and she uses Max to fulfill her dream of living again so she can be reunited to Luis.
Max got positive reviews for her portrayal of a poor Boholana who plans to marry a rich foreigner in “Bamboo Flowers”. Off cam, she’s being linked to Pancho Magno, son GMA exec Redgie Magno. Are they now officially on? “No, we’re just dating. There’s nothing serious going on. We both need more time to devote on our acting careers.”
