NORA AUNOR does not tolerate her fans who keep on saying she’s the next national artist. “Sabi ko sa kanila, huwag nila pangunahan baka mapahiya kaming lahat,” she says. “Basta ako, hindi ako nage-expect ng kahit ano kasi marami pang mas karapat-dapat na bigyan ng award na yan na senior sa akin. Pero siempre, kung ibibigay sa akin, maraming salamat. Alangan namang tanggihan ko.”
Ate Guy is really so busy these days. Her reunion telemovie with Tirso Cruz III, “When I Fall in Love”, will be shown on TV5’s “Studio 5 Original Movies” tonight at 8 PM. We saw it in its press preview and be sure not to miss it because both Guy and Pip give bravura performances in their role as a couple celebrating their 40th year of marriage at a time that Pip is dying from cancer.
As the story unfolds, you’d realize that their relationship is not at all that rosy because Pip, a doctor, once went astray and had a child with his other woman, Jenny Miller. But Guy is the martyr wife who accepted him back and even his love child, who grows up to be Felix Roco. Also in the cast are Nadine Samonte and Marc Abaya as the daughter and son of Nora and Tirso.
The film is well acted by the entire cast. As directed by Joel Lamangan, it has many touching scenes, especially towards the end when Tirso is slowly dying, that will surely make you cry. Aside from this, Ate Guy has also completed “Padre de Pamilya” with Coco Martin and Joel Torre for Director Adolf Alix Jr. She has started “Dementia” with Jasmine Curtis Smith for Director Perci Intalan. Coming up next are two more new movies, “Hustisya”, written by Ricky Lee and directed by Joel Lamangan for Cinemalaya, and “Whistle Blower”, written by Rody Vera and directed by Adolf Alix.
