MARVIN AGUSTIN says his role as Ramon, the plastic surgeon obsessed with Bianca King in “Obsession”, is the darkest character he has ever played. “Maski ang mother ko mismo, ayaw akong panoorin kasi naiinis siya sa character ko,” he says. “But I’m enjoying it kasi lahat ng galit ko sa buhay, nailalabas ko through my role. Ang gandang outlet, nananakit ako, nangre-rape ako, at binabayaran pa ako. Na-miss kong umarte kasi prior to this, puro hosting ang ginawa ko in ‘Karinderia Wars’ and ‘Artista Academy’ on TV5.”
How is it working with Bianca King? “Noong una, akala ko, suplada but she turned out to be okay: hardworking, very professional. I really like her work ethic. Tapos kasi siya ng filmmaking kaya she really knows what we should do para mapaganda ang eksena.”
How are his twin sons? “They’re 9 years old, grade 4 na. I get them every weekend at alam nila ang setup namin ng mama nila. Tet (the boys’ mom) and I are good friends. Kung minsan, we all go out, have dinner as a family. Ako ang ginawang disciplinarian ni Tet so I’m strict with them. Then I realized na weekend ko na nga lang sila nakikita, tapos ginagawa pa akong panakot sa kanila. I don’t want them to be scared of me so I give them more of my time.”
His former ka-love team, Jolina Magdangal, is also now a mom. “Oo nga. Hindi ko ma-imagine na may baby na siya kasi parang baby pa rin ang tingin ko sa kanya. When she posted sa Instagram yung photo nila, I congratulated her. I’m very happy for her and Mark (Escueta). I’m sure they’ll both be good parents.”
We interviewed Marvin at his newest restaurant, Boqueria, at SM Megamall’s new building. It was named after a famous market in Barcelona as they offer authentic Spanish cuisine. He served us their paella, Iberian chicken and churros with Spanish chocolate and they’re all very good. “Kasosyo ko rito sina Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Ma’am Charo Santos Concio, Malou Santos and Boss Orly Ilacad,” he says.
