CARLA ABELLANA laughs off the rumor that she broke up with Geoff Eigenmann just to help promote her new movie, “So It’s You”, with Tom Rodriguez and JC De Vera. “I will certainly do no such thing, use my personal life just to promote something,” she says.
Some haters even bashed her after she appeared in “Startalk” to admit that they’ve indeed called it quits, but she chose to just ignore them, saying: “Life is too short to worry about what other people say or think about you.” Which, of course, is very true, since you really cannot please everybody.
Another nasty rumor accuses Carla of just breaking up with Geoff so she could go back to former BF cager JC Intal after he has proposed marriage to current GF Bianca Gonzalez. “That’s ridiculous. Bakit ko naman gagawin yun? I’m happy for them and wish them all the best,” says Carla.
While shooting “So It’s You”, she was then having problems with her relationship with Geoff but the people working with her didn’t notice it at all. “Hindi niya dinadala ang personal problems niya sa set,” says Tom. “So wala kaming inkling at all na may pinagdaraanan pala siya.”
Carla says it’s great working with Tom again after they played husband and wife in the hit bekiserye, “My Husband’s Lover”. “But this time, we’re doing a light love story at wala ng mga kadramahang ginawa namin noon sa aming soap,” she says. “We enjoyed doing ‘So It’s You’ and I’m sure maraming young people who have experienced ups and downs in their romantic life na makaka-relate sa mga sitwasyon dito. It’s a movie about second chances in love, very hilarious but full of heart warming kilig moments.”
In “So It’s You”, Carla plays a bride about to marry JC De Vera when, on the very day of their wedding, JC decides to dump her and backs out from the wedding. Carla is crushed but manages to move on when gets to meet Tom, who’s also nursing a broken heart like her as he’s been similarly dumped by Bangs Garcia. Written and directed by Jun Lana who says the fine chemistry between Carla and Tom will surely thrill viewers of all ages, “So It’s You” also stars Paolo Ballesteros, Kevin Santos, Leo Martinez, Arlene Muhlach, Gee Canlas and Joey Marquez.
The hit theme song of “So It’s You” is rendered by Kuh Ledesma, who also sang the “My Husband’s Lover” theme song, “One More Try”. It opens in theatres nationwide on May 7. Aside from this Carla, has finished another movie, “Somebody to Love”, co-starring Iza Calzado, Jason Abalos and Matteo Guidicelli, directed by Jose Javier Reyes (whose 101 year old mom just passed away last Friday, our condolences). On TV, Carla is all set to tape for a new mini-series on GMA News TV before she goes back to GMA-7 for another full length soap.
