These promising talents were groomed and professionally trained through workshops and performances with some of the country’s music icons such as Pilita Corrales, Sitti Navarro, Joey Albert, Randy Santiago, Ariel Rivera, and Bituin Escalante. Bong Quintana, PAGCOR’s Assistant VP for Entertainment says their home grown artists have much to offer. “Every time they go on a concert tour, we make it a point that their shows will be entirely different from their past performances. The Viktors, composed of the champions in our annual OPM@PAGCOR singing competition, will sing pieces that will challenge their vocal skills. K Menn will sing famous hits of local and international artists. Dash with the One Rhythm Band will bring great musical arrangements while the Krazy Chikz will have a new act with them doing revivals of ABBA and Aegis songs, classic ballet and modern dance.”
He adds that the PAGCOR management is giving bigger opportunities for these artists. “Negotiations are on-going for the creation of an album with Star Records. Hopefully, it will happen in the middle of this year.”
Dash, one of the finalists of OPM@PAGCOR Season 1, admits that she finds every tour more challenging now that they’ve become quite popular. “We have to level up every time we perform. We see to it that we give something new to the audience. Nag-iisip talaga ako ng bagong concepts and songs na hindi ko pa naka-kanta sa previous tours. I research on concerts na pwede kong kuhanan ng ideas na magagamit ko sa tour.”
Dash is also excited about working with the other PAGCOR talents in future shows. “Dumadami na kami. The more the merrier! And I'm really happy that more aspiring singers are given chances to share their talents and have the opportunity to work in PAGCOR.”
