She also said her dad is an obstacle in her career. Her dad didn’t support her and she lost confidence in herself. She says she works for her dad’s bar in Quezon City but she gets meagre wages compared to her dad’s teenage wife, Jovie Albao, who gets P10,000 a week. She says she believes his young wife is brainwashing or casting a spell (“kinukulam”) on her dad’s mind.
It’ll be remembered that when Freddie announced his decision to marry his 16-year old bride, he was pilloried in social media. But Maegan supported and defended her dad all the way. Now, she’s singing a different tune. She obviously is full of regret for supporting and covering up for her dad and his bride then. Maegan says she and her child lived temporarily with a bandmate after she was thrown out of their house then her own mom helped her stay in a hotel.
Ka Freddie immediately retaliated by issuing a statement countering Maegan. He said he’s actually been supporting her for the past 35 years. And not only that, his own sister, the controversial Mylene Aguilar (whose own son is now in jail for killing someone over road rage), joined the fray and issued her own statements in social media, complete with expletives.
She says, partly: “Kahit kailan hindi ako nakialam kung sino mang mga babae ang inaanchak ng mga kapatid kong lalaki. Sa sobrang dami na nila, hindi ako naniniwala na merong tunay na pagmamahalan si Freddie Aguilar at ang 16 year old na yan. Pupusta ako, kung hindi siya sinusustentuhan ng kapatid ko pati mga magulang niya e wala siya sa buhay ni Ka Freddie. Tulad ng sinabi ko, labas ako sa issue kung saan ipaparada ng mga kapatid kong lalaki ang mga ari nila. Hindi yang 16 year old na yan ang nauna sa buhay ng kapatid ko at hindi rin siya ang huli. Hindi ako naniniwala na kaya siya pinakasalan ng kuya ko e dahil mahal siya. Ang totoo pinakasalan siya dahil natakot makulong ang kapatid ko!”
