JENNYLYN MERCADO turned 27 on May 15 and as a gift to her fans, she’ll launch today her new single, “Basta’t Nandito Ka”, in “Sunday All Stars”. This is the carrier single of her upcoming album, “Never Alone”, now available on digital format via iTunes. Her fans will surely be humming the catchy tune and lyrics composed by hit maker Vehnee Saturno, the same composer of her very first single, "Kahit Sandali". In 2004, this became a certified hit in the country and even earned her a Gold Record award for her first album, "Living the Dream.”
Her newest album will mark her comeback to GMA Records as well as her 10th anniversary in showbiz. It will include 10 OPM songs, including "Kahit Sandali,” "Sa Hatinggabi” (the theme song of her top-rating teleserye, “Rhodora X”) and “Abot Langit” (love theme of the upcoming rerun of the hit Koreanovela, “Jewel in the Palace.”) A revival of the Ella Mae Saison hit "'Til My Heartaches End" will also be in the album. After the release of her album, Jen will co-produce her major concert that will be held on October 10, 2014 at the Araneta Coliseum.
Meantime, “Rhodora X” is on its last few weeks and the show was talked about when Jen and Yasmien Kurdi had an accidental lips-to-lips while one is performing CPR or resuscitation on the other. “First time ko maka-kiss ng kapwa ko girl,” she laughs. “Hindi naman supposed to be magta-touch ang lips namin, pero nangyari. Siguro, sinadya ni Yas at nag-enjoy siya. Ha-ha-ha!”
Will she now be willing to do a lesbian love scene in the movies? “Why not? Basta si Yas uli ang kasama ko kasi comfortable na kami sa isa’t isa.”
It’s good she’s not the type who carries the characters she play at home. “Naku, I really make it a point na hindi ko nadadala sa bahay ang characters that I play in ‘Rhodora X’ lalo si Roxanne. Mabigat siyang dalhin dahil sobrang emosyal at may pagkabayolente, so ayoko namang makita ng anak kong si Alex Jazz na dala ko siya hanggang bahay, kaya I make sure na pag-alis ko ng set at ng taping, bumibitaw talaga ako totally mula sa kanya. Abangan nyo ang last few episodes ng ‘Rhodora X’ kasi magiging mabilis ang mga pangyayari. Tutulungan ni Martin del Rosario si Yasmien para makabawi at makidnap ang anak kong si Jenna. Dadalhin ito sa abroad at si Mark Anthony Fernandez as Nico pala ang boss ni Martin. Buhay pa pala ito. Lumipas ang isang taon. Nagkaroon ng amnesia si Jenna at si Yasmien na as Angela ang kinikilalang ina. Bumalik sila sa Pilipinas at may bago nang pangalan si Jenna. Siya na si Princess. Papakilala ni Yasmien sa amin si Martin bilang husband niya.”
