CONGRATULATIONS to Rachel Anne Go for the great reviews she’s getting for her performance as the bargirl Gigi Van Tranh who sings the memorable “Movie in My Mind” in the stage revival of “Miss Saigon” at the Prince Edward Theatre in London’s West End. It was in November, 2012 that she took the audition for the show but it was only a year later, November, 2013, when she finally received word that she’s being considered by producer Cameron Mackintosh.
She was asked to fly to London for the final try out and bagged the role of Gigi. In March, 2014, she went to London and rehearsals started. The previews started some days ago and formally opened last Saturday, with other Pinoys in the cast: Jonjon Briones as The Engineer and Eva Noblezada from the U.S. as Kim. All the stagings were big hits with London audiences who really waited in line to see it. Rachelle’s portrayal of Gigi was singled out for her outstanding singing and sexy stage presence. Before this, Rachel did nothing but wholesome roles in musicals for kids like “Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin”. Congratulations to Rachel for her first mature performance on the international stage at that. We’re all so proud of you!
