RUFFA GUTIERREZ says she didn’t have second thoughts about accepting “Maybe This Time” even if she just supports Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin. “Tuwang-tuwa nga ako when they called me kasi after ‘Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy’, heto’t I have a new movie uli sa Star Cinema,” she says. “When I asked kung sino mga kasama ko, they told me sina Sarah and Coco. So sabi ko agad, game! Nakakabagets. Sinong tatanggi sa kanila? E, pareho silang napakahusay. Also, first time ko to work not only with them but with Direk Jerry Sineneng kaya sige, go! Tapos, kakaiba ang role ko as Monica, kasi ako talaga ang girlfriend ni Coco rito at boss naman ni Sarah. I’m a go getter, an achiever, matapang, mataray, used to getting what she wants. I will ask Sarah to transform Coco na bar owner para bumagay sa sosyal na circle na ginagalawan ko. E, hindi ko alam, may nakaraan pala sila, so nabalik yung pagtingin ni Coco kay Sarah. Kaya may dialogue ako rito kay Sarah na ‘you’re a lying backstabbing boyfriend-snatching witch!’ Pakiusap ko lang sa fans ni Sarah, huwag sila magagalit sa’kin dahil movie lang ito and I am just playing a role.”
Her daughters Lorin and Venice were present at the presscon at ABS-CBN’s Dolphy Theatre to cheer for her. Ruffa said that last Mother’s Day, Lorin sent her a letter that made her cry. “Sabi niya, ‘Mommy, as much as I want you to be single forever, we understand that someday you will end up loving someone. I don’t want you to grow old alone.’ Iyak ako nang iyak, sabi ko nakaka-touch naman ‘yung letter ni Lorin. So I cried for one hour, medyo nag-bonding moment kami and then sabi naman ni Venice, ‘You know I can’t beat Lorin’s love letter, can I just tell you how I feel?’ Nakakatuwa talaga na they are mature kids now at tanggap nilang I will love again.”
Next week, the whole Gutierrez family will go to Singapore for the international presscon of their show “It Takes Gutz To Be A Gutierrez.” It will start airing E! Channel Asia starting June 1, 9:00 PM!
