ROCCO NACINO is just back from Europe with Lovi Poe and is thrilled to be part of the Cinemalaya entry, “Hustisya”, as he’ll get to work with Nora Aunor for the first time. “Ang maganda, we’ll have plenty of scenes together and I’m looking forward to that as I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from her,” he says. “Second movie ko naman ito with Direk Joel Lamangan. The first one, ‘Burgos’, gave me the chance to work with Lorna Tolentino. I feel so honored to work with the country’s best actresses. Second Cinemalaya entry ko rin ito after ‘Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa’ which gave me an acting award.”
What’s his role in “Hustisya”? “Ako si Gerald, a hotshot lawyer na magiging abugado ni Nora Aunor when she’s accused of killing someone. Noong una, tahimik siya, hindi lumalaban, hindi corrupt. But I will be the one to influence to change as a person. Dahil sa’kin, matututo siyang magsinungaling and later on, magiging head siya ng sindikatong dati, pinamumunuan ni Rosanna Roces. Mukhang mabait ako rito pero ruthless, walang puso, walang konsensiya. I’m challenge to play such a dark character after I played a saint in ‘San Pedro Calungsod’.”
How’s he and Lovi after their two-week trip to Europe together? Are they now officially on? “We’re more than friends. But I’d rather not talk about us. I’m not comfortable.”
Which places did they visit? “We went to Paris, London, the Amalfi Coast and Rome. We wanted to go to Greece, but hindi naayos ang visa namin at may nag-suggest sa aming ipalit ang Amalfi Coast at the south of Italy. And they were right dahil ang ganda-ganda nga roon, para na rin kaming nakapunta sa Greece. But most memorable for us is going to Vatican City on Good Friday and going to the Holy Mass with Pope Francis. It was a great feeling.”
Traveling together surely helped them get to know each other better. “I opened up to her. Masaya, we even pray together. Sa shopping, akong tumatawad kapag may binibili siya. We really had a great time so we resolved na mag-iipon kami uli para we can travel again together to other distant places in the future.”
