XIAN LIM’s debut album, “So It’s You” in 2012, is now nearing platinum status so it’s not surprising that Star Records gave him another album, “XL2”. What’s the difference of his new album from the first one?
“The first one is more of revivals,” he says. “XL2 is more of originals. Iisa lang ang revival dito, ‘Si Aida o si Lorna o si Fe’. Also, I have three songs that I myself composed, “Alay Ko Sa’yo”, ‘Iibigin Ka’ and ‘Kung Di Sa Iyo’. The other songs are ‘Keep in Mind’, ‘Di Bale’, ‘Ikaw Na’, the theme song of my movie ‘Bakit Di Ka Crush ng Crush Mo’, and ‘Pag May Time’, the carrier single.”
Which of the songs will he dedicate to Kim Chiu? “’Keep in Mind’. Di ba it’s abbreviation is KIM? At ang lyrics nito, swak na swak sa amin.”
How did he feel when he was separated from Kim and she was paired with Coco Martin after they just did a hit movie, “Bride for Rent”? “Okay lang kasi trabaho lang naman yun. Ako rin, for my soap, I’ve already been informed na I will be paired with Jessy Mendiola. We will start taping in June. But Kim and I will be reunited in two new movies, per my new contract with Star Cinema. One is a comedy with Ai Ai de las Alas and the other one is a romance to be directed by Joyce Bernal.”
As a composer, which comes first for him, the lyrics or the melody? “Actually, sabay ko silang ginagawa. I have to be sitting in front of a piano and that’s where I write the lyrics and the music. I really want to thank Star Records for giving me the chance to record my own compositions in my new album. Na-excite talaga ako at naging emosyonal rin habang nire-record ang mga kanta ko. Naging chance ko kasi iyon para husayan at ibigay ang buong emosyon ko sa pagkanta. For my next album, Star Records wants me to also show my talent as a musician kasi I play a lot of musical instruments. Training ko kasi yun when I studied middle school, high school and college in the U.S.”
Xian’s ‘XL2’ album is now available at record bars nationwide for P250 and can also be downloaded from iTunes, www.amazon.com,www.mymusicstore.com.ph & www.starmusic.ph
