ABS-CBN Presented To The Press The Candidates Of This Year's Mr. & Ms. Chinatown Who All Want To Join Showbiz

ABS-CBN PRESENTED the candidates to this year’s Mr. & Miss Chinatown at Gloria Maris Gateway. Their very first pageant night was held last year, June 30 at Newport Theater, Resorts World hosted by Xian Lim, Enchong Dee, Gretchen Ho and Alex Gonzaga. The first Mr. & Miss Chinatown were Randy See and Rolini Lim. Rolini was at the press conference and said she learned a lot from her one-year reign. But Randy was reportedly busy with other commitments.

The 12 male contestants this year are 1. Kurt Joshua Ong 2. Daniel Miralles 3. Wesley Chawn Cua 4. Michael Tiong 5. Mark Anthony Lim 6. John Ralph Boo 7. Jan Hung 8. Timothy Yap 9. King Choi 10. Robin Go 11. Cedrick Miranda 12. David Sy Licauco
Our top three bets are Contestants No. 2 Daniel Miralles (has matinee idol good looks and says he can speak better Chinese than everyone), No. 4 Michael Tiong (the most articulate) and No. 8 Timothy Yap (he has the best physique, works in a hotel and can mix well with people of various nationalities). The oldest candidate at 25 is No. 5 Mark Anthony Lim and is also quite impressive.

The female candidates are 1. Glezlie Ong 2. Christine Co 3. Judielyn Chang 4. Abegail Chua 5. Chelsea Robato 6. Nicole Cordoves 7. Tola Orendain 8. Fetina Lim 9. Sharmay Cu 10. Jamie Reyes (she also joined last year) 11. Lourdes Aurora (L.A.) Cu 12. Anie Unson.

There are more good looking girls than boys. They all want to join showbiz. Most of them admit having a boyfriend. Our top bets are No. 5 Chelsea Robato (she’s prettier than Kim Chiu), No. 6 Nicole Cordoves (the most articulate and the only one who’s morena), No. 7 Tola Orendain (the tallest candidate, she’ll be a good fashion model) and No. 11 L.A. Cu (she represents Bicol, full of energy and considers herself hot). When we asked the girls who they think is their biggest rival, most of them said it’s Chelsea, which is justified since, on stage, she’s really the most stunning in looks.

The coronation night will be held at Aliw Theatre on July 27. Prizes are P500,000 for the top winners, P300,000 for the 1st runners up and P200,000 for the 2nd runners up. ABS-CBN and the Miss Chinatown Foundation believe the event will open doorways for more unity and cooperation between Filipino and Chinese communities to help shape the potential of today’s generation of Chinoys.
