Albert Martinez Had Qualms Making Love To Bea Alonzo Who's Half His Age

ALBERT MARTINEZ says that when he was first told he’d be in “Sana Bukas Pa ang Kahapon”, he thought he’d play the role of Bea Alonzo’s father. “But it turned isa pala ko sa leading men niya,” he says. “She plays two roles at ako si Leo, yung husband ng lawyer character niya, si Emmanuelle. I’m the CEO of a big company and we even have a son. Honestly, kinabahan ako noong una. I’m 53, so paano kaya ako magkakaroon ng leading lady who’s just half my age? I had to prepare for it kasi ang mindset ko, father role na.”

It’s to his credit that he doesn’t look his age. “Sabi nga nila nang pinapanood namin our scenes together, hindi naman mukhang alangan. Isa pang kinabahan ako, may love scene kami. E, ang tagal ko nang hindi nakipag-love scene. The last time was sa movies pa, with Joyce Jimenez in ‘Scorpio Nights 2’ and Sunshine Cruz in ‘Ekis’ in 1999 and Lolita de Leon in ‘Laman’ in 2002. 12 years ago pa. Hindi na ko sanay. It’s good Bea is a very good actress. Pinagtulungan namin, she handled it well and the scene turned out to be beautiful, very romantic kasi it’s between husband and wife. “No, because I love what I’m doing. Mas mapapagod ako kung wala akong ginagawa at nasa bahay lang.”
