COMEDIAN EARL IGNACIO has branched out into film directing as co-director (along with Wincy Ong) of GMA Films’ drama-thriller, “Overtime”. Wincy was not at the film’s presscon at Annabel’s and the rumor is that he had a falling out with GMA Films and it’s Earl who finished shooting the film. “Ay, hindi totoo yun,” says Earl. “From the start, kasama na niya ko after he wrote the script. May sakit siya, hindi puede magpuyat, kaya kinuha niya kong co-director. Wala si Wincy ngayon kasi may trabaho sa Iloilo.”
He wants to correct the impression that “Overtime” is an indie film. “Naku, very mainstream ito, ginastusan talaga ng GMA Films at maraming malalaking eksena. Ginawang pulido lahat ng technical aspects nito. Malaking pelikula at napakagaling nina Richard Gutierrez and Lauren Young in the lead roles, at nina Roi Vinzon and Mitch Valdes in supporting roles.”
Earl admits his marriage to singer Cookie Chua ended in 2006. “Annulled na kami. Nasa kanya yung aming 14 year old son.”
He admits that he now has a new girlfriend. Cookie herself is now linked to a senior political columnist of a major daily.
