RICHARD GUTIERREZ is aware that most local movies that hit it big in the tills these days are rom-coms. So what does he think is the chance of his action-suspense-thriller, “Overtime”, at the box office? “I’d say it’s 50-50,” he says. “This is really an experiment even for me kasi my movies that earned money are all love stories. But we’re hoping that ‘Overtime’ will be a good alternative to viewers na sawa na sa rom-coms at gusto naman ng action-thrillers like what we have to offer.”
According to GMA Films Pres. Atty. Annette Gozon-Abrogar, viewers can expect something new in this suspense movie because it has a fresh and young approach. “The story centers on the two leads (Richard and Lauren) and takes the audience on a fast-paced, cat-and-mouse chase. The directors infused a different exciting approach in the storytelling.”
She adds that the vision and inspiration in making a suspense film like “Overtime” is that GMA Films wants to make films with a new feel using promising directors and filmmakers. “We believe that Filipino viewers are ready to embrace these types of films and we want to support the new creative blood as well.”
Richard plays Dom Garcia, a hacker who seeks revenge against a pharmaceutical company while Lauren is Jody Amistoso, the executive assistant he uses and sends on a deadly mission. Directed by Earl Ignacio and Wincy Ong, expect to see different Richard and Lauren in a thrilling roller coaster ride that explodes with a slambang climax.
“Overtime” opens in theatres nationwide this Wednesday, July 2.
