Gardo Versoza Comes Out In An Openly Gay Role In 'Dading'

GARDO VERSOZA is enjoying his openly gay role in “Dading”. “I play a colorful, fabulous character,” he says. “Gabby Eigenmann plays the title role of Carding, a gay dad or dadding bading, kaya ‘Dading’ ang title ng show. Ako ang best friend niya, si Lexi, isang designer. Siya, pa-mhin pa nung una. Ako yung out, loud. In real life, pareho kaming pamilyadong tao so we enjoy playing unusual roles like this. Nag-jell agad kami ni Gabby kasi hindi siya maramot na artista. Hindi naman ito first time for me to play a gay role. I played a gay manager sa ‘Bituin’ ni Ate Guy sa ABS before, pero effeminate lang. Dito, swishy talaga.”

“Dading” director Ricky Davao says he and Gabby are both very effective in their gay roles. Gardo also narrated the show’s trailer and he did a very good job. It’s all very promising as he and Gabby play endearing characters. We tell them they should who have put the show on primetime as it looks like it’s going to rate well.

Off cam, Gardo is currently enjoying playing father to his son, Deity Uziel, 8 months old, with his non-showbiz partner, Ivy Vicencio. What if he’d have a son who’s gay? “Hindi naman sakit ang pagiging gay, so I will give him all the love and support he needs. But the way I see him now, malayong maging beki ang anak ko. Yan ang next na magiging Machete.”
